Spain defeats Germany for place in World Cup final
I have been a supporter of the German football team since 1982. The young squad was very impressive. In the next couple of years it could be a great team. Well done, Germany, in the 2010 World Cup. -- Majeed, Pakistan
Germany played very well. The World Cup is difficult to win because it is scheduled every four years. -- Malcolm, Canada
Although it was a graceful exit for our beloved German team, we can only say that it is still a young team and the path in front of them is still open. And to say to Mr. Joachim Loew: there are opportunities in front that you can achieve your victories, which is the keynote speech in every football debate. -- Belkebir, Algeria
Congrats, Spain! Germany did very good, but not enough within the game versus Spain. -- Andy via Facebook
Actually they did a great job, but today they didn't play as well as in the previous games. Hard luck, I'll keep with my favorite team, Germany, forever. God bless you, Germany, and all the players: Klose, Mueller, Schweinsteiger, Oezil, Podolski, Khedira, Lahm, Neuer, etc. You did a great job. -- Ghassan via Facebook
What happened? I really thought Germany would win. They were strong. What failed? Defense? -- Daniela via Facebook
Germany was good, but not enough, because in my opinion, they believed in their own minds that Spain was stronger than them. I don't know why, but this doesn't change the fact that Spain deserved the game from the beginning to the end of the game. -- Mustafa via Facebook
Still love my team! Well done boys. -- Naomi via Facebook
Spain dominated the match and deserved to win it, even though I was rooting for Germany! -- Eugene via Facebook
I was very disappointed with the game in Germany against Spain. It seems that the German team was in slow motion, with no desire to play, very different from that played against Argentina and England. I think the coach was wrong. -- Ariela via Facebook
Germany did not win this game, but they have won many other important games and I am proud of them. They always display sportsmanship, integrity and great skill. Congratulations to the German team! -- Cynthia, US
Oh well. It is just a soccer game. Wait until they come to Germany for an economic bailout - then you can tell them to go jump in a lake (Just kidding, of course). I will say Germany looked kind of hot and tired compared to the Spaniards. Maybe they are more used to that hot weather. -- Frank, US
Well, I also expected more ... what happened with that attacking machine that performed so well in the past matches? I can't believe it! What a pity! And Paul? Well, I don't want to be in his shoes right now. -- Alfredo via Facebook
Octopus oracle predicts a German soccer defeat to Spain
I blame Paul the octopus. -- John, Great Britain
The German team is the best anyway! But when I go to a restaurant in Deutschland, I will order Paul the octopus ... sorry. -- Alexander, Ukraine
No joke, teach him sign language. His "skills" could be used in a broader sense. Hopefully they will treat Paul the octopus well and will not conduct any experiments on him. I am a bit concerned for his wellbeing from now on. -- Luther, Australia
