A Lebanese student is on trial here in Germany for the attempted bombing of two trains in 2006. Prosecutors allege Yusef al-Hajj Dib and an accomplice built and planted the bombs, intending to cause carnage on the scale of similar terrorist attacks in London and Madrid. Earlier this morning, a Lebanese court sentenced al-Hajj Dib in absentia to life in prison on charges of attempted mass murder. His accomplice was given 12 years in prison.
