Leverkusen sign Mehmedi
June 11, 2015Bayer Leverkusen announced that they had snapped up Mehmedi via Twitter on Thursday, without disclosing the fee paid to relegated SC Freiburg.
"My dream is the Champions League and with this club, I can already reach that next season," Mehmedi told Bayer Leverkusen's wesbite. "The team really impressed last season, not only in the games against SC Freiburg. I think it's great that I am now part of it."
Mehmedi joined Freiburg from Dynamo Kyiv in July, 2013 on a season-long loan before signing permanently with the club in 2014 for a fee of 6 million euros ($6.7 million). Mehmedi scored 20 goals in 75 appearances for Freiburg.
"Admir Mehmedi fits our requirments exactly," Leverkusen Sporting Director Rudi Völler said on the club's website. "He is quick, technically strong, intelligent and especially versitile. He can make our offensive game even more variable."
Mehmedi, who scored one goal in four appearances for Switzerland at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, has played in 31 international games in total, scoring two goals, one of them in a freindly against Germany.
