Bayern's successful season in pictures
Great saves, top goals, injuries and celebrations: as Bayern Munich secure their latest Bundesliga title, we take a look back at all the key moments this season on the path to them winning the trophy.
A Bundesliga goal machine
Bayern have scored 76 goals in 30 games. Arjen Robben leads the individual charts with 17 and the biggest win of the season came against Hamburg, when they trounced HSV 8-0. On that day, Thomas Müller, Mario Götze, Robben, Robert Lewandowski and Franck Ribery all got on the scoresheet. So far this season, 14 different players have scored for Bayern.
A class of their own
The record champions played in a league of their own on their way to collecting their 25th league title. Bayern went undefeated throughout the first half of the season strung together an unbeaten run of 21 games over two seasons. That's quite some run, but it remains well short of the record (53).
Milestone for Lahm
The captain of both the old and new champions is Philipp Lahm. But the recently retired international ended up missing more games due to injury after the World Cup win. When he did play, he took up spot in the center of the park. He scored two goals and provided two assists. In October 2014, Lahm became the 28th player in Bundesliga history to have celebrated 200 wins.
All boarded up at the back
Manuel Neuer has kept things tight at the back and exudes confidence to the players in front of him. In 30 games, Neuer has only conceded 13 goals, keeping a remarkable 18 clean sheets. Two clean sheets came from newly-signed goalkeeper Pepe Reina. The Bundesliga record for clean sheets is 21 games, so Neuer has enough games to set a new one.
Game-winning save
One of Neuer's best saves this season came away at Borussia Dortmund. With not long left in the game and Bayern 1-0 up, Neuer made a spectacular save to keep out Marco Reus' well struck free kick. Bayern held on to win the game thanks to a goal from former BVB striker Robert Lewandowski. It wasn't a top-two clash - Dortmund were too far behind in terms of points - but a battle it was.
Howling Wolves
The most troublesome opponent this season for Bayern has not been Dortmund, but Wolfsburg. Against the Wolves, Bayern suffered their first defeat of the season in January - and in some style too. Wolfsburg beat Bayern 4-1, comprehensively outplaying Guardiola's team on the break. Wolfsburg look set to finish the season in second, suggesting a future rivalry with Bayern.
First home defeat
Only one more defeat accompanied the one against Wolfsburg, and that came at home against Borussia Monchengladbach. Manuel Neuer was twice caught out on the break, leaving Bayern with their first home defeat of the season. Raffael scored both goals. In the other 14 home games, Bayern ended victors on 13 occasions.
A day to forget
The defeat against Gladbach was bad for another reason: Arjen Robben, who at the time was leading Bayern's scoring charts and was likely the most in-form player in the league, suffered a serious injury. The Dutchman tore a muscle in his abdomen.
Bad turn of luck
Arjen Robben was just one name on a long injured list. The bad luck started before the start of the season. Against BVB in the Super Cup, Javi Martinez tore his ligament. Since then, long-term injuries have affected David Alaba, Franck Ribery, Philipp Lahm, Thiago, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mehdi Benatia and most recently Holger Badstuber.
Head coach against the doctor
The large number of injured players did not go unnoticed by Pep Guardiola. The Catalonian was apparently unhappy with the work of long-standing Bayern doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt, and their relationship deteriorated through the season. After the defeat to Porto, Müller-Wohlfahrt stepped down.
The perfectionist
For the first time since arriving at Bayern last season Pep Guardiola came in for some mild criticism, with detractors suggesting he could be too headstrong. But having kept Bayern on track for a treble and having won the legaue with four rounds to spare, the coach has proved his critics very, very wrong.
