Though he was fully deaf by then, Beethoven found a new way to integrate text and human voices into the symphonic context of his last complete symphony. The work, which premiered in Vienna on May 7, 1824, was considered revolutionary for its time.
"Young, passionate, impressive" -- both the press and the audience responded enthusiastically to the performance by the Ukrainian National Music Academy's symphony orchestra at the Beethoven Festival Bonn. The orchestra was rewarded with a standing ovation as they struck the final tone.
