The first "Berlin Documentary Forum" has got underway at the House of World Cultures in the German capital. Conceived by a group of filmmakers, curators and artists, the international meeting aims to demonstrate the increasingly significant role of documentary in the visual arts, performance, literature and cinema.
During five days of screenings, performance, readings and discussions, the Berlin Forum examines contemporary documentary trends, looks at the role of images in present-day politics and explores media education.
