'East for South'

The project ‘East for South – Development Awareness from the Roots’ brings together eastern European and African participants, introducing them to EU-funded development projects in sub-Saharan Africa.

‘East for South’ includes a six-day training session on inter-cultural reporting and development aid mechanisms; 10 days in an African country for research, interviews and coverage purposes; and a production phase at DW facilities in Bonn. Participants will work in East European/African pairs.

Over a two year period, a total of four groups, each with 24 journalists, will take part in the project.

Support for Albania

The DW-AKADEMIE Albanian project ‘Independent Professional Media: The Road to Europe’ is designed for journalists and managers/owners of small and medium-sized Albanian newspapers, radio and television stations.

The project focuses on supporting more independent and professional media in the country. Journalists can choose up to three modules including advanced journalism training, and briefings on Albanian politics.

Managers can choose from modules including marketing & sales and human resources development. Every station nominated for the project is required to send two participants – one from each professional group.

The training modules will be held within an 18-month period. Group size is limited to 10 participants for each module. The first management module, ‘Marketing and Sales for Media Outlets’ took place in Tirana, at the end of October.
