Bayern batter Bremen in Bundesliga

Ahead of a decisive Champions League second leg against Juventus, Pep Guardiola's team disposed of Werder Bremen with a stunning team display. While highlighting just one of Bayern's players would be unfair on the spectacular dominance that Guardiola's team displayed, this team is full of star performers.

Philipp Lahm delivered a marauding performance that many thought was a thing of the past, while Kingsley Coman's hat-trick of assists were further proof of the quality the 19-year-old has developed.

Thiago though, was at his masterful best. Conducting possession, taking on in-game instructions and, for the first time in over two years, scoring as well, the Spaniard was magnificient to watch. Having timed his run, Thiago guided Coman's perfect cross past Felix Wiedwald to give the home side an early lead.

Bruised and battered

After losing to Mainz last time out in the Allianz Arena, there was no chance of a repeat result for Bayern - and Werder Bremen knew it. So did Claudio Pizarro who, unable to play due to injury, watched from the stands as his new side chased the shadows of his old one.

Thirty minutes in to the game Thiago skipped around midfield and then Coman went from teasing the ball to beating the defender and setting up Thomas Müller to shoot through Wiedwald in typical Müller fashion, wrapping his leg uncomfortably around the ball to double the score.

Bayern ended the half with 75 percent possession, but by the end of the game that number read 83. Thiago, moving so fluidly he appeared to be sliding around the field, clipped the bar with a fittingly audacious effort.

With the contest over, Bayern's players started to compete against one another for the most impressive individual display of the evening. Müller scored his second to take his Bundesliga tally to 19 for the season, although Franck Ribery's volley that brought about the chance deserved to go in.

Not one to miss out, Lewandowski came off the bench to take advantage of a crumbling Werder Bremen defense and curl home Bundesliga goal number 24 this season, but the final word fell appropriately to Thiago. The Spaniard stabbed home at the near post from another Coman cross to complete the rout and leave Bayern brimming with confidence ahead of Pep Guardiola's most important game in charge.
