A bowl of muesli might be a healthy start to the day, but Julia Bauer from Bochum probably wished that just this once, she'd skipped breakfast.

Police reported that the 21-year-old had laid out a bowl, spoon, packet of muesli and carton of milk on the passenger seat of her car and was all set to tuck into her daily dose of low-fat carb on her way to work.

But then, predictably enough, the bowl skidded off the seat.

Attempting to catch it, Ms. Bauer lost control of her vehicle and slammed into a parked car, which in turn piled into another.

"The young driver ended up spoiling more than just the car seat when she swerved and crashed into a parked car and a lamp post," said a police officer.

After extricating herself from the airbag, she established she was unhurt but had caused damages of up to €21,500 ($27,500) as well as bringing traffic on the busy street to a standstill.

"She could have gone on a two-week holiday at a five-star hotel with breakfast included for this much money," said a police press release.
