The German government is in damage control mode following a presidential election setback that's led Chancellor Angela Merkel to call for unity within her fraying coalition. The embarassing nine-hour marathon in the Federal Assembly has weakened the Chancellor - and put in offfice a new president who will have to make good on his promise to bring together all Germans in a time of economic uncertainty.
