January 1, 2010Andreas Kofler, who won at Obertsdorf with a jump of 137.5 meters, and Swiss jumper Simon Ammann were both disqualified on Thursday for wearing non-regulation ski suits. The two will be allowed to jump on Friday, however, because they are in the top 10 World Cup rankings and automatically get a spot at the finals.
Ski jumpers compete at four different sites in Austria and Germany in the Four Hills Tournament, which is taking place for the 58th time.
Eight Germans have qualified at Garmisch-Partenkirchen after a disappointing performance in Oberstdorf. Junior world champion Andreas Wank finished ninth, an improvement on Pascal Bodmer's 12th place finish on Tuesday.
"It was a clear sign that our spirits are still strong," said German coach Werner Schuster. "We've put Oberstdorf behind us, and now a new script will be written."
After Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the tournament will move on to Austria, with jumps at Innsbruck on January 3 and Bischofshofen on January 6.
