Dortmund buy Schürrle in second big signing of the week

Andre Schürrle has joined Germany team mate Mario Götze at Borussia Dortmund after the Bundesliga side splashed the cash for the second time in two days.
The forward leaves VfL Wolfsburg after just a season and a half with media reports putting the fee at around 30 million euros. He has signed a deal until 2021.
"Borussia Dortmund is one of the top clubs in Europe with a strong and extremely exciting squad. I want to celebrate success with Borussia Dortmund in the coming years and can hardly wait to start training and show everyone that it was the right move to sign me," Schürrle said in a statement.
Dortmund, Bundesliga runners-up to Bayern Munich last term, saw three high profile departures early in the transfer window with Ilkay Gündogan going to Manchester City, Mats Hummels leaving for Bayern and Henrikh Mkhitaryan heading for Manchester United.
But they have hit back this week, sealing Götze’s return to the club from Bayern and swooping for Schürrle, who can play out wide or through the middle.
The pair combined for Götze’s winner in the World Cup final two years ago but only played bit parts in Germany’s recent Euro 2016 campaign.
Along with the ever talented if injury-prone Marco Reus and last season’s top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Schürrle and Götze will hope to reinvigorate Dortmund’s attack and launch a sustained assault on Bayern’s crown this term.
However, Schürrle struggled at times at Wolfsburg after moving from Chelsea, showing only flashes of brilliance and often being left out by Wolves coach Dieter Hecking.
It remains to be seen if Dortmund supporters can be convinced.
