Eastward, Ever Eastward - From Berlin to Vladivostok
July 31, 2013
The journey begins at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate, a famous reminder of the Cold War and a once divided city. After the fall of communism it became easier to travel from the West to countries that were once isolated behind the Iron Curtain. Some 20 years have passed since the collapse of the Soviet Union. What does life look like in former Soviet Republics in 2013?
During a journey lasting some four months our crew encountered old borders and new trade agreements, vibrant cities and isolated villages, fertile landscapes and endless wastelands, numerous languages and religions. They met people who live in a 21st century global world while maintaining their cultural and religious identities. An exciting journey through Eastern Europe and Asia featuring fantastic landscapes and the stories of the people met along the way.
