Eintracht Frankfurt part ways with Armin Veh

Frankfurt announced on Sunday that Veh would be leaving as club coach after the side's 1-1 home draw with recently promoted Ingolstadt a day earlier.

"The split is very hard because Armin Veh has had our confidence to the very end," said Frankfurt chairman Heribert Bruchhagen. "However, we hope that a change of managers will give the team an important boost, so that we are able to stay up."

The club has been unable to find form this season, having picked up just 24 points in 25 games, and failing to secure a win since matchday 18. Frankfurt are currently mired in 16th place, facing a relegation dogfight to stay in the top flight.

Veh joined the club in June last year, having agreed a two-year deal with the club. It was his second spell in charge at the Eagles.

In Veh's first stint with Frankfurt, which lasted three years, he led them to promotion to the first division in 2011-12 and took them back to international competition with a sixth place finish after the 2013-14 season.

In March 2014, he surprisingly declined to renew his deal, preferring a move to Stuttgart, the club with which he won the Bundesliga in 2007. That renewed engagement proved a disaster, and Veh resigned.

Veh's most recent predecessor at Frankfurt, Thomas Schaaf, quit the Eagles last May citing insufficient support from club management.
