Emerging economies rise to the Top Table in world affairs as the G20 eclipses the G8

The G-20 Summit has drawn to a close with a pledge to chart out a new vision for economic governance. With the financial crisis easing, delegates said "a sense of normalcy should not lead to complacency" -- and promised to build a framework for "sustainable and balanced growth" as well as tightening regulation of the banking system. Also in Pittsburgh came a landmark decision to make G-20 the top forum for global economic cooperation -- ahead of the G-8. +++SYN-MAZ+++
