In another move to boost confindence in the banking sector, European finance ministers have agreed to increase bank deposit guarantees for savers in Europe. They decided to raise the guarantee from 20 to 50,000 euros. Although the action was less ambitious than expected, it marked the first concrete EU-wide action aimed at protecting savers.
