Facebook ID aims to raise awareness about privacy

A Berlin artist has drawn the attention of Facebook for his identification card project.

If you’re lucky enough to do some international travel every now and then, it’s a part of the ritual: Luggage, wallet, phone and the all-important passport. But these days, with so much of our time spent on various social media, doesn’t your Facebook account say more about you than any driver’s license or ID? Well that’s exactly what Berlin-digital artist Tobias Leingruber encountered when he was traveling from Canada into the US, the border guard asked him for his Facebook name instead of his passport. While the border official was only joking, it gave this German artist an idea. Jonathan Gifford reports from Berlin.
