French police detain scores in a raid on a migrant camp in Calais

The British Home Secretary, Alan Johnson, has welcomed what he called a "decisive" French raid on a tent city in Calais .. used as a base for illegal immigrants heading for Britain. French police detained some 300 migrants at the camp. They will either be escorted back to their home countries or allowed to apply for asylum.
