The situation in Iran remains tense, a day after powerful cleric Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani challenged the country's supreme leaders over last month's presidential election result. Former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said Iran was in a state of crisis, following the re-election of president Mahmoud Ahmedinejad in the June 12th poll, adding that many in Iran doubted the official results. Rafsanjani called for the release of Mousavi supporters, jailed during the unrest that followed the elections.
