Draxler reportedly close to leaving Wolfsburg
December 22, 2016Julian Draxler revealed to the public his desire to leave Wolfsburg after the European Championship in France. France may be his next destination, with multiple reports suggesting the German midfielder is close to a January move to Paris Saint-Germain.
A Wolfsburg person has told German sports magazine Kicker that a deal is in place to send Draxler to the French capital and that the two sides are only working out formalities. French sports outlet L'Equipe reported earlier this week that the transfer fee could be 36 million euro ($37.6 million), but German media has suggested the fee could be higher and include bonus payments.
Draxler has been a controversial figure in Wolfsburg since bringing his transfer desires to light in August. He has yet to score a goal in 14 appearances with Wolfsburg this season, but assisted two of the three goals Wolfsburg scored in their last two games against Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
PSG, the defending champions of the French league, currently sit in third place in France's first division. They have acquired Bundesliga talent in the recent past, poaching Kevin Trapp from Eintracht Frankfurt before the 2015-16 season.
