Lawyers for Radovan Karadzic have called for the genocide and war crimes charges against the former Bosnian-Serb leader to be dropped. They say they have evidence that in 1996 special UN and US envoy Richard Holbrooke promised Karadzic immunity from prosecution in connection with atrocities committed during the 1990s Balkan Wars. Karadzic was apprehended last year after more than a decade in hiding.
