The court said Sahed A., 23, had caused grievous bodily harm to his victim, a 43-year-old rabbi, in September and handed him a three and a half year jail sentence.
The prosecution had called for a four-year sentence.
Sahed A. shouted "Bloody Jew, I'm going to kill you," as he stabbed Zalman Gurevich in the abdomen, witnesses said. But both court and the defense agreed that it could not be proven that he had uttered the threat, so the charge of attempted murder was dropped.
Gurevitch received medical treatment at the time, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
