In April 2013, over 1,000 textile workers were killed when a Bangladeshi factory building collapsed. DW looks at the push for compensation for the victims, the plight of garment workers and efforts to improve conditions.

In April 2013, over 1,000 people lost their lives when the Rana Plaza factory complex in Dhaka, Bangladesh, caught fire and collapsed. Many parties were blamed for the disaster - the building's owner, who flouted building codes, and the international corporations seeking cheaper production without inspecting suppliers on-site. On the anniversary of the disaster, DW takes a look at the push for compensation for the victims and their families, the plight of garment workers and efforts to improve their working conditions.
