Taliban rockets hit the presidential palace in Kabul ahead of Thursday's election

At least 3 civilians have been killed in a blast on a busy main road in eastern Kabul, just two days before elections in Afghanistan. Dozens more are reported wounded. Earlier, in separate incidents, rockets landed near the presidential palace and the police headquarters. This - as theTaliban renewed threats it will disrupt the polls and called on Afghans to boycott the elections. NATO has announced ISAF troops will suspend all offensive operations on election day - and concentrate on providing security.
