The German government and carmaker Opel remain lukewarm about Fiat's bid to take over General Motors' European operations

Ema Nevenka JülichMay 5, 2009

The future of Opel and its 25-thousand staff is still uncertain. On Monday Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne came to Berlin talk about a possible take-over. He spoke of a "match made in heaven". But so far the "bride" hasn't said "yes". Instead, Fiat's advances are being met with mixed feelings. Marchionne may have put his plans on the table: together with Chrysler and Opel he wants to build the world's second-biggest car giant. But many questions remain unanswered. +++Syn-Maz+++
