The German government has nominated the state premier of Lower Saxony, Christian Wulff as its candidate for the nation's president. The move follows the surprise resignation of Horst Köhler on Monday. Wulff is a member of the conservative CDU party, and if elected would become Germany's youngest president. He IS almost certain to be approved by a special parliamentary assembly on June 30. Although some critics have described him as too provincial.
