The German squad will come home today to receive acclaim and consolation at Berlin's Fan Mile. The 1.2 kilometer stretch of boulevard was first turned into a public viewing zone when Germany hosted the 2006 world cup. And it looks set to become an institution at major tournaments. On Sunday, and estimated six hundred thousand football fans gathered there to cheer on their team.
