The International Monetary Fund has called for decisive action to avoid a melt-down of the international financial system. IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has given his full backing to the action plan announced on Friday by the G7 group of leading industrialised nations. He said "all available tools" should be used to support financial institutions and prevent their failure.
