TT: Homegrown: Islamist Terrorism in Germany? - The case
Ema Nevenka JülichApril 22, 2009
The trial of four suspected Islamist terrorists in Dusseldorf today follows the arrests made by Germany's Federal Police two years ago. In what's likely to be a sensational trial - the four men - three German citizens and a Turk - are accussed of plotting to blow up German civilians and US soldiers. The gang had been preparing bombs equivalent to more than four hundred kilos of TNT with the aim of attacking targets in and around the US Air Force base at Ramstein and other targets. The prosecution says their ultimate goal was to wage an Islamic holy war in the heart of Europe. +++SYN+++
