Labour wins in UK elections in a landslide

The Labour Party, headed by Keir Starmer, won big in the United Kingdom's parliamentary elections. The result ended 14 years of conservative rule that included eight governments and five prime ministers.

After a 14-year run that included eight governments, five prime ministers, and a Brexit, the Conservative hold on power in the United Kingdom came to an end after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak conceded defeat on Friday.

The Labour Party completed a landslide victory in the poll, with unofficial results showing that the party has secured a majority in the British Parliament. That means Keir Starmer, the party leader, will become the nation's 64th prime minister.
