Voting is underway in Spain´s parliamentary elections, after a campaign dominated by worries of an economic downturn. Earlier this week, Prime minister José Luis Zapatero and his ruling Socialists held a narrow lead in the polls over the conservative Popular Party, led by Mariano Rajoy. The assassination of a former councillor in the Basque country on Friday has cast a shadow over the election. All major parties blamed the killing on ETA separatists.
