Goals at a glance
April 20, 2016When they were announced, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) divided public, political and expert opinion. Opponents feared that 17 was too great a number, and that no country could focus on such a long to-do list, so would therefore shy away from even trying.
Proponents, however, said the high number of goals was a good thing. Not only because they were collectively agreed by representatives of governments and civil society, but because they offer countries the chance to choose the aims that relate most directly to the needs of their people.
Whichever camp you fall into, we now have the goals, to be reached in the next 15 years. Here at My 2030, we will keep you abreast of the challenges facing countries and communities all over the world.
