The lifesavers: 50 years of Doctors without Borders

In the past 50 years, they've saved millions of people, providing medical aid in dangerous situations and the worst conflicts across the world and they've also been outspoken when many other humanitarian helpers haven't: Doctors without Borders, or Medicins sans Frontières, MSF.

 In 1999 the international organization was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of its "pioneering humanitarian work on several continents".
Over the next half hour, we will dive into the history and the day-to-day operations of Doctors Without Borders. For his indepth feature, author Thomas Kruchem reports from refugee tents on the Greek island of Samos, meets a nusre in a shantytown in South Africa, talks to some of those who helped to set up the organization and finds out about current challenges the organisation is facing.
